COMPLETED PROJECTS OF RC DHANBAD NORTH
Rotary Club of Dhanbad North was started as Rotary Club of Kustore, as Charter No 27095 dated 11-4-90 with Rtn. Dr, A.K. Chatterjee, as Charter President and Dr. S.C.Srivastava as Secretary. It was renamed in 2002 by after it was taken up with RI, when Dr. Krishna Singh was President. Right from the beginning, RC Dhanbad North had given priority to social and medical service projects. All projects were with the resource generated from the club and some of the important projects taken up since inception are listed below: -
1) Matkuria cremation ground was renovated by RC Dhanbad North in 1991-92 and inaugurated by the then DC, Dhanbad
2) Ladies Inner Wheel was started in 1993 and continued till 1997, with leadership of Mrs. Jogindra Singh and continued up to 1997
3) Design and construction and maintenance of garden in Bank More Police Station area. It was completed and handed over to Police Department for upkeep in 1994.
4) An Ambulance was purchased and operated for poor patients from 2000 and had to be discontinued for frequent breakdowns in 2005.
5) Rotary Village Centres, RVC were started at Pradhankhanta in 1995 and completed in 1999. RVC at Dhankira was taken up in 2000 and completed in 2006.
6) Leprosy Hospital at Tetulmari was being helped by medicines, clothes, food articles from 2002 and finally state Government took it over in 2007.
PROJECTS TAKEN UP FOR COMPLETION
1) Cleft-lip operation was taken with the help of an organization of Banaras in 2008-09 and around 100 patients from all over India were benefitted.
2) Roof-top rain water harvesting project at RCC Bagula School was taken up with the help of state govt. and is likely to be completed by 2013.
3) Ground water harvesting by borehole pumps, by the side of a stream at Gandhinagar, for a Harijan hutment colony, has been taken up with the councilor of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation in 2011 and likely to be completed in 2014.
4) RCC Saheli Centres were opened in 2006-07, with sewing machine centers, helped by RCC members of the village and will be completed by 2014.
5) A Saheli/Computer Center has been started in December 2011 at Kolakusuma with place provided by Rtn. Dr. U.S.Prasad, as per suggestion and partial help of DG, Rtn.Gambhir and propose to train locals with nominal fees with certificate.
